Áo dài Phụng New Year’s Gift

It’s finally here! The preparations for celebrating Tết is just as (if not more) fast-paced, stressed, and hectic as Christmas is for the westerners. Thankfully, Tết is celebrated an entire week, and you can visit the GIANETTI main store until February 13th (last celebration day of Tết) to pick your 2008 New Year’s gift before it goes on sale. Thanks to all who have entered the store giveaway contest, we have 53 entries and 3 winners! That mystery animal is the Phụng, which represents femininity and usually appears opposite the masculine rồng (dragon). Congratulations to Clarissima Schumann, Lizziebabee Wildcat and April Burt, as they received every GIANETTI item that has been released in the main store. The Áo dài tunic is very form fitting, and has high slits at the waist to allow the loose wide legged trousers to billow out. The front and rear dress panels are flexi. Gianetti Giveaway Contest

To celebrate my heritage, I will be releasing an Áo dài on Tết, the Vietnamese New Year. Not to be confused with the Chinese cheongsam, the Áo dài (which translates to “long dress” in English) is the national costume of the Vietnamese people. The Áo dài has a long cultural history, worn by the royalty in silk and completely covered in fine hand embroidery, as wedding gowns, and as simple cotton school uniforms for children.

Now about that giveaway contest …

Guess which animal will be featured on this dress to win every GIANETTI item sold at the main store. Entries MUST be in the form of a notecard titled in the format “Tet Contest_Your Name_Your Animal Prediction” to be accepted. Only one entry per person or risk disqualification.
